stoic: The Best Way To Not Break Your New Year's Resolution (Again)

Time to make hopeless promises to test our self-discipline.

Apple didn't give us Journal on iPadOS. stoic is even better than what could have been.

The Idea

At first glance, stoic seems like every journaling app out there. And then, you feel the magic.

Other journaling apps are built as journaling apps. stoic is built like a university student's (successful) attempt to make a sexy personal project.

Here's a quick summary of the big features.

Use faces to judge how "good" you feel (1-5). Useful for short-term and long-term tracking.

A minimalist system to build journal entries.

Feel free to use:

Cool quotes + your thoughts on them.

A collection of writing, breathing, and meditation exercises based on "genre" (think morning, productivity, etc).

Analyze your stoic history. Can also connect to HealthKit for more detailed insights.

Navigation shortcuts. Nothing crazy, but nice to see.

Modify basic app and editor settings.

If I end up really liking stoic, I might get the Premium yearly plan ($3.33/mo is a steal). Premium + AI doesn't seem worth it to me.

stoic is fantastic. Will keep testing it out though.
